Stainless steel braided sleeves cover the FIRESLEEVE wrapped hoses and main wiring harness passing through the articulation area.
Remote bucket pin grease hoses have been added for easy maintenance and are protected with stainless steel braided sleeve over FIRESLEEVE.
High amperage cables connecting the two batteries, the batteries to starter and the alternator to batteries are wrapped with FIRESLEEVE. HD clamps replace standard clamps as necessary.
FIRESLEEVE covers the external boom and bucket hoses and all exposed wire harnesses in the front frame and the front portion of the rear frame. HD clamps replace standard clamps as necessary. Stainless steel braided sleeves protect the FIRESLEEVE wrapped hoses and harness from damage.
FIRESLEEVE is used to protect the hydraulic hoses and wire harnesses susceptible to damage in this severe application. FIRESLEEVE, a high temperature silicone rubber coated fiberglass sleeve, withstands 260°C 500°F continuous exposure; molten splash at 1205°C 2200°F for periods up to 15 minutes and short exposures up to 1650°C 3000°F.
The bellcrank grease line is protected with FIRESLEEVE and stainless steel braided sleeve.
The plastic on exposed components has been removed or replaced with metal. The standard plastic backed mirrors are replaced with metal backed mirrors.HID bulbs with glass lenses replace the standard plastic lens front work lights.
The front rubber mounted lower steps are replaced with steel hinged steps that are designed to move fore and aft with the machine to minimize damage from external impact.
The rear rubber mounted steps are replaced with heavy duty 19mm 3/4" thick steel steps.
The plastic fuel filter water separator bowl is replaced with a metal bowl and all rubber fuel lines are protected from heat with FIRESLEEVE wrap.
Hydraulic fluid can be replaced with optional EcoSafe FR46 or FR68 fire resistant fluid. A hydraulic tank drain quick coupler and quick sample port are included as standard equipment with the Steel Mill Arrangement
The guarding package protects the:
(1) front frame bottom opening
(2) boom cylinder hoses
(3) power train bottom opening
(4) fuel tank
(5) front and rear axle brake lines
The guards are up to 9.5mm 3/8" thick steel and are protected with bolt head guards as needed. The front frame, power train and fuel tank guards have bolt on covers to allow cleanout and access to maintenance points.
On the sides of the loader, both the transmission filter box and the brake component box are protected and reinforced with 6.5mm 1/4" guards on the sides and bottom.Bolt on covers allow easy access to maintenance and inspection locations.
The 3mm 1/8" cab underguard protects the hoses directly underneath the cab from molten splashes and external damage.
The dual screen light guards protect the front work lights from impacts.
At a steel mill there is typically a large amount of dust in the air. The Steel Mill Arrangement includes an optional dual stage Optimax system that will protect and extend the life of the air intake system and filters. In addition to this, the battery boxes are also sealed to prevent dust accumulation.
The axle breathers feature upgraded filter media designed for this application and are raised off the axle.
The optional dual pane sacrificial glass protects the front of the cab from heat and impact. The inner glass is 22mm 7/8"thick SAFE-SHIELD, and the outer glass is 5.5mm 7/32" thick HEAT-SHIELD.The roof of the cab comes prewired for installation of a beacon light.
At the rear of the loader there is an engine shutdown switch and a parking brake override switch accessible from ground level. Both switches are designed to be used in urgent situations for towing the machine.
Should damage occur to the transmission shift system, an additional secondary override circuit is included in the cab. This circuit allows travel in first gear forward or reverse to move the machine from a compromising location.
A bracket is provided in the cab to easily mount a manual activation switch and control box for a fire suppression system. Also, the left and right platforms have added mounting plates for liquid/dry chemical tanks.
The optional RESPA cab air filtration system provides pre cleaned, filtered air to the HVAC system and pressurizes the cab keeping odors out and extending HVAC filter life. The custom fit RESPA system is designed to withstand the heat of a typical slag application. The filter box at the top of the cab is guarded to deflect heat while maintaining easy access for service.
